tampa

Even though I'm not doing well in the tournament, I played a nice back nine.  My work on the range is good, I've just had trouble getting it to the course, but today's back nine was real solid and I just worked on just relaxing my arms during my swing.  I know the problem is more tension than technical.  I will work on relaxing tomorrow.

This is an unbelievable atmosphere, and I birdied #18 in front of the huge grandstands full of people, including a group from Idaho Falls, some Golf Nuts and a bunch of other supporters.   I'm feeling good, go to the fitness trailer and work with a gentleman that was the trainer for the Pittsburgh Pirates for 37 years.  I will do better.

Thanks for all of your encouragement, I know you are as disappointed with my play, as I am

Naples Second Round

We used to have a hunting dog named Clyde.  He was really wild and wouldn't do what he was supposed to until he got tired, so my dad would run him behind the car to where we were hunting, so he would mind from the start.   Maybe I need to run to the course, because my back nines are much better than my front nines.  Shot a 72 today, but was 2 under the back nine.  I started very slowly again, but really was happy that way I played my back (which was the front nine).  So tomorrow, I'm going to play BOTH nines well.   My game is showing signs of life, I just need to continue to work and be patient.   Thanks again for the support.  Ryan and I will head to Tampa tomorrow evening, and I will let you know what we are doing in the blog, so check in often as you would like.

Naples First Round

Ace Group Classic First Round   You know what I'm going to do?  Focus on the back nine.  I hit every green, except the last, and made four birdies.  I three-putted #11 from 25 feet, and missed a four footer for birdie on #13.  But it was the best nine I've played this year.  The 77 I shot doesn't allow me much room to move much lower, so I'm going to go out in the morning, and get after it.  I'm swinging much better at times, and think that my game is going to come together soon.

And today was the first time that I've EVER played a shot out of a water hazard in which I just saw a seven foot alligator swimming.  I told Jay Sigel as I put my feet in the water, if he saw that muther swimming toward me, to yell.  Not surprisingly, I speeded up my pre-shot routine........but got the ball onto dry ground.

florida

been in florida for three days, playing the tpc at tampa bay (where the outback tournament is being played).  my game is still rusty, but has improved each and every day.

it is kinda cool, that i'm a member of the tpc courses and there is a special practice area with new titleists for tour members.  what a perk, what a place to practice.

ryan will be here saturday night and will caddy for me in both naples and tampa bay.

i will play with gary koch and doug lacrosse at the tpc tampa bay on friday.  should be a lot of fun.  i'm working on just relaxing and playing, not thinking too much about my game.
